www.SABATC.com Web Site November 2005
When I was elected to the board in November 2003 my plan was to develop a web site to document our renovation. In late November of 2003 I secured the web domain name SABATC.com and was technically on line. At that time you could go to www.SABATC.com and there was a scrolling banner stating that this was the official web site of the "St. Augustine Beach and Tennis Club Condominium Association Renovation Project". My intent was to provide a photographic documentation of the renovation from start to finish. That was my level of web site design competence During the early planning stages of the renovation I realized that there was a lack of information to our non resident owners. They had relied on the monthly board meeting minutes for information and the current format did not provide that. We needed to keep our owners informed in a timely manner and I made the decision to provide that information by expanding the scope of the web site. Not having the technical knowledge or background I went through an extensive learning curve and it has been a constant "work in progress". The web site will not win any design awards but it did fill the "information vacuum". I have had people tell me that our renovation was probably one of the best-documented projects of its kind. My personal bias is that it was a major factor in keeping our owners informed and behind the project. The renovation is finished and we are still having visitors to the site, October we had 262 visits. During its inception we had 5,000 visits and over 250,000 hits. Not bad for an amateur. It has been a gratifying experience and I appreciate all the positive comments. However there comes a time when we must move on, and the web site having accomplished its objective, is no longer relevant. The domain name and the annual hosting come up for renewal at the end of the month and I have decided not to renew. It has been a great rewarding run, thanks everyone. Ted Pappas
